New Features in Orion NPM v.9.5:

• Integrated Wireless Poller – Orion NPM’s Integrated Wireless Poller extends the management capabilities of Orion to wireless thin and autonomous access points and their associated clients. Now you can use Orion NPM to monitor your wireless devices alongside your wired devices and leverage award-winning alerts, reports, and Top 10 lists.

• Cisco® EnergyWise Monitoring - Cisco EnergyWise focuses on reducing the energy consumption of all devices connected to a Cisco network ranging from Power over Ethernet (PoE) devices, such as IP phones and wireless access points, to IP-enabled building and lighting controllers. It gives you a network-based framework for discovering, monitoring, optimizing, advising, and regulating energy needs. Cisco EnergyWise encompasses a highly intelligent network-based approach to communicate messages that control energy between network devices and endpoints.
  
  Orion products now enable energy management with a few simple steps:

  • First, run an Orion NPM EnergyWise readiness report to find all EnergyWise supported devices on your network.
  • Next, use Orion Network Configuration Manager to complete a batch update of the IOS for each device to a level that supports EnergyWise features.
  • Then, select which energy policy settings you want to use to start managing your network’s energy consumption.
  • Finally, report on your network’s energy consumption and savings from Orion’s intuitive web console which automatically recognizes EnergyWise enabled devices..

• Network Atlas - Network Atlas allows you to simply drag and drop devices into their appropriate locations on the network map so that you can view the health of all network devices at a specific location. Use Network Atlas to create your network map locally on your PC and immediately publish it to the Orion web console. Then see the current status of the added nodes in a pictorial network representation.

• Unpluggable port mode – Orion NPM’s unpluggable port mode allows you to configure user ports to avoid unnecessary visual notifications and alerts when users undock or shutdown their PCs, while continuing to monitor infrastructure ports for up/down status of important network devices. Now, when you are alerted that a port has gone down, you can be sure that it is a critical infrastructure port, not just another user logging off for the day.

• Network Sonar – Network Sonar uses a simple three-step process to automatically scan networks and import new network devices, saving you valuable time and eliminating the need for manual updates. First, enter the SNMP credentials for your network devices. Next, specify the portion of the network you would like to scan (IP range, subnets, or a bulk upload). Finally, confirm the discovery settings, such as SNMP timeout, retries, and hop count. Network Sonar then automatically scans the network for new devices and adds discovered devices into the Orion NPM database to begin monitoring those devices.
